Description
COPPER FOUNTAIN MOUTH, NEPAL
This type of copper fountain mouth is found in particular in the famous temple of Muktinath dedicated to Vishnu.
In this sacred place in the Anapurna region in Mustang there are 108 of these cow-headed fountains stuck in one of the walls of the religious complex.
The water that spouts out of the mouth of the sacred animal comes from a natural source that purifies and offers salvation to the pilgrim who passes under the streams.
The object presented here shows the quality of Nepalese folk art. With few resources the craftsman makes a gracious and effective representation of the holy cow.
