Tanzanite is a transparent zoïsite. It was discovered in Tanzania in the 1960s.
This mineral belongs to the silicate family. The presence of vanadium and chromium in its composition gives it its beautiful azure to violet colour.
The result of volcanic activity in the Kilimanjaro mountain range, this mineral was formed over 600 million years ago in schists, gneisses and amphibolites.
